Club President Greg Taylor said “both Carl Manu and Joel Ford had put their hand up early on to coach. However, a formal announcement on the full coaching/manager staff had been delayed until the Club had resolved the competition arrangements with NHRU.”
Carl continues as P1 coach and will be assisted with Matt Chidgey especially come game day, while Jim and Denis will share the workload as managers.
“It’s great to have such a strong team around me” Carl said. “I know Matt will continue to provide advice on team tactics and be the eyes on the sideline, and with reliable people like Jim and Denis making the team tick along that’s always a plus.”
Carl said “I am really pleased to have Sean, Yvette and Mark help motivate the guys with the training its been great. It’s great to have the resources of Strength Republic supporting us. “
In P2’s Joel will step up from P3’s and will have assistance from Brian (BJ) Garry as assistant coach. Joel will be supported with John and Ken filling the role of managers and advisers.
“I had originally thought P3’s would be ideal for my first coaching stint but when this opportunity came up for the P2 role I was keen” Joel said. “It’s great to have someone like BJ who has been around the Club for many years to help out. I know we can really work well together. I am fortunate to have John and Ken provide a strong support team. I am looking forward to the 2017 season.”
Joel said “I want to pay special tribute to Holly from Rebound Physiotherapy and welcome Harriet and Hanna. These ladies do a lot of work to help get the guys on the field and its really appreciated by Carl, myself and the players.”
